Hopelessly Heather

The ramblings and obsessions of a longtime Avon lady

The hubs and I headed out to a family BBQ on Sunday.  I was sporting Avon’s Onyx Necklace and Earring Set!

I really loved the look of the necklace!  The layers were each different enough from each other to create visual interest, but similar enough that they were cohesive.  The only thing I found a bit irritating is the middle chain layer kept illegally changing lanes, which required me to continually fuss with it.  I’m not sure that there’s a “fix” for that issue, so we’re just going to put that in the “annoys Heather, but not enough to retire the piece altogether” category.  By contrast, the earrings looked like a cheap afterthought.  They matched the necklace fine and were lightweight, but I felt like they were out of step with the caliber of the necklace.  I probably will never wear them again.

Back to your regularly scheduled prog…er, selfie! Tuesday was just a regular day filled with deliveries and errands…and Avon’s Sterling Silver Abalone with Marcasite Necklace and Earrings!

Abalone is one of my favorite materials used in jewelry!  It’s never predictable, but always contains blues, greens, and silvers – all my faves in one place!  Each piece is delicate and traditionally designed with the delightful splash of color using abalone and a modern flair using marcasite – what you get are elegant and interesting pieces that deserve a spot in your jewelry box.  For me, all of these ingredients together create a grand slam!

On Friday, I helped out my aunt in her specialty nursery/gift shop in the black pair of Avon’s Bow Tie Leggings 2 Pack and the Goldtone Layered Chain Statement Necklace I picked up on clearance!

The ties on these leggings are the cutest!! Y’all know I’m vertically challenged and shy away from buying pants of any kind without first trying them on, but I couldn’t pass up the ties on these! (And, yes, I’ve worn the grey ones too, but they are definitely more a “kickin’ it at home” look, so no pics were taken as I was slummin’ it that day.) The leggings aren’t thick, so they are perfect for cooler summer days like today, though they offer zero support – and by that, I mean there is no spanx-like material to be found in these. Panty lines show easily, as do bumps, rolls, and curves. On top of that, they are cut super high waisted, so the waist actually hits me right below my boobs, which is a horrendous look, so I wore a longer top to cover all that nonsense. Had I tried these on in a store, I’d have noped ’em, but because I’m super lazy about doing mail returns, you get to see pics of the fully styled end result!

I own the necklace in hematite and loved it so much, I decided to try the gold one too in spite of my earlier reservations of it being too shiny! While it is shiny, it looks richer than I originally anticipated…and not in that 80s rapper way either. I totally dig it!

This week I’m gracing you all with some BONUS SELFIES!  They are not Avon related (though I did use a ton of Avon makeup for the look!), which is why they are in the “bonus” section, but they will help to make sense of Tuesday’s blurb!

Monday night I dressed emo to attend Emo Skate Night at a local roller rink to get my daughter out of the house. What started as a goof turned into reality when she informed me that her husband was coming just to see me dress emo. And so here I am in a very different sort of selfie!  The things we do for our children…

  1. I love that gold jewelry set, it’s not very 80’s rapper, lol. Those tights are cute, I may get them too. The Emo Heather needs another name, she is your alter ego, maybe Raven? Lol

The necklace looks more high end than I imagined it would. 😁

The leggings come in a 2 pack – a great deal! And that bow tie detail is too cute for words!

No. Just very out of character for me and a lot of my friends loved it. Raven sounds way too badass for me! LOL

  4. Is that a real nose ring? And wow! I love how open you are to doing seemingly silly things like that. I’m sure your daughter appreciated it!

LOL Nope–it’s a clip-on. I don’t mind doing silly things at all, particularly for my kids. My daughter and son-in-law loved it!
