Hopelessly Heather

The ramblings and obsessions of a longtime Avon lady

Every morning you painstakingly curl your naked lashes then, as soon as you apply mascara, they uncurl again!  Arrrgh!

First, I have curly hair – this is both a curse and a blessing, depending on the day.  Sadly, my curly hair did not discuss its choice with my eyelashes – they have chosen to be stick straight my entire life and the eyelash curler was one of my first beauty related must-haves.

As I aged, I discovered heated eyelash curlers and I’ve never looked back!  While they curl my lashes in record time and actually curl them better than an old school curler, mascara application still undoes all my work.

To combat this, I curl my lashes, apply mascara, then wait for it to dry while I do my hair.  Once the mascara is dry and set, I use my heated eyelash curler to recurl my lashes again.  This time it sticks!

What are your secret tips to getting your lashes to curl and stay curled?!

You’re joking, right? Are your lashes naturally curly? If so – I’m seriously jelly!

I wear just mascara, that’s all.

You are blessed. If you didn’t know it before, know it now! I wish I didn’t have to curl my lashes, but I do.

I got my eyelashes permed back in the late 90s – I wish I could find a place that still did that…it was great and lasted for a few months!!

Permed eyelashes???!!! Now this is the first time I have ever heard of such a thing…Now, I’m thinking about when I used to perm my hair (the one on my head) and how much that would burn. Yikes! 😮😳

It didn’t burn at all. It only took a few minutes to get it done at a spa. I should look into that again…

LOL I got home, put everything away, changed into PJs and sat at my computer to prep my blog post for tomorrow. I haven’t even looked at my phone for about 3 hours.

  2. When I was younger I had no idea what this thing did. It looked like a torture device. A heated curler? Doesn’t it make your eyelashes catch on fire or something?

It totally does. No—it doesn’t heat up that hot. The silicone pads have wires under them that heat the pads up. The silicone pads are what go against your lashes.
