Everybody has them. Those favorite actresses that come on the screen and make you take notice. I admire classic beauty. While I can get on board with a trendy item or two thrown into the mix, my heart is firmly rooted in the 50s and 60s eras when clean lines, sophisticated style and simplicity ruled the day. Some of the following won’t surprise you in the least that they made the list…but one or two might!
Angelina Jolie

I even liked her when she was a wild child – unapologetic for being who she was: young, gorgeous and wild. Then kids happened and she found her fashion footing. While I generally think she needs to eat a few sandwiches to fill out some, her bone structure, features and the way she carries herself screams sophistication.
Audrey Hepburn

Her personality was endearing, making you want to be her bestie, which would allow you to also raid her closet…what a dream! This is one that’s on lots of faves lists and she is an easy addition to mine as well.
Charlize Theron

I love her when she’s playing a character that’s sweet or mean. I simply adore her and can’t stop my jaw from dropping whenever I see her. Even when she takes fashion risks, she can seemingly do no wrong. Luckily for me, she favors a straightforward look so I can take in the fashion as well as the goddess wearing it.
Grace Kelly

Jackie Kennedy Onassis
Embed from Getty ImagesJackie Kennedy Onassis was American royalty through and through. She was the quiet strength behind the scenes as JFK’s first lady. She dressed with the times but was never labeled trendy, even though all the trendsetters wanted to be her. Her public stoicisim captured the modern thinking woman of the 60s without throwing it in the public’s face. She made looking detached in front of the camera cool.
Jennifer Aniston
Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty ImagesAmerica’s bestest friend is cute and bubbly sweetheart Jennifer Aniston. Her comfy girl next door style and persona are easy to relate to, but harder to pull off than you think. Casual yet put together is a difficult style, but one I aspire to. And when she glams up for the red carpet, she still manages to look like it was all effortless. She’s always an A++.
Kate Beckinsale
Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty ImagesKate Beckinsale is every man’s dream…and that of many women. She’s so stunning it sometimes hurts to look at her, but then you notice the outfits. She can literally wear anything and make it look good, though she tends to stick to the basics allowing her pure beauty to shine. And this is what we all wish we could be, the palette that any and all fashion looks good on.
Kate Middleton
Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty ImagesKate Middleton keeps her style within the royal lines but isn’t afraid to play with color. She favors bold hues that make her features pop, but doesn’t buck tradition. She makes skirt suits cool again. And I always drool over her coat collection – just how big is her closet? If only we could get a peek inside to see the entire rainbow displayed…oh, and the hats! You all know I love me a good hat – and she’s got loads of them!
Kate Winslet
Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty ImagesKate Winslet has always dressed well, regardless of her weight…which is apparently a thing that the press likes to dwell on. She represents every woman. I’ve always loved seeing what she picks to wear and have felt an affinity towards her every day gal personality. Even when she’s all dressed up, she is relatable. There’s just a way that she carries herself – like she doesn’t take it all too seriously, but knows when not to crack a joke. It’s this line that she seemingly walks that I am drawn to – looking like a million bucks, but not above eating at Mickey D’s.
Victoria Beckham
Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty ImagesVictoria Beckham is posh – whether or not she was before she jumped into the Spice Girl role, she sure is now. Her infamous Mona Lisa smile is just the right mixture of haughtiness, enigma and naughtiness. Her fashion picks are fierce and she is constantly throwing in an element of surprise into her outfits. Most of all, I love that she’s constantly being shot in office chic – something I aspire to, but have a long way to go in order to achieve it.
And there you have it – my top 10 favorite fashion icons! Which ones do you agree or disagree with? Who would make it into your top 10?!
A very impressive list Heather, I agree on most of them. I’ve never liked Angelina Jolie, never, but that’s my personal opinion. I do have some actresses from the 50’s I admire a lot, one was Jane Russell and the other Kim Novak, they had grace, style and sophistication coming out of every pore. The epitome of a 1950’s actress.

If I could go back to a fashion era, it would be the 50s – they always looked so spiffy!
