Those are all of the past few weeks’ selfies! What was your favorite and how would you have worn it?!
LIFE CHECK-IN/UPDATE
I have finally made it through birthday season (we attended several parties/dinners) and can come up for air again! For those keeping track, my work burnout has improved greatly and I am enjoying a better work/life balance, which includes a ton more singing making me a much happier individual as a result. A few weeks ago, I traveled by train (round trip) to attend a training for work in Seattle, and stayed overnight at the Edgewater Hotel. The train rides would have been lovely and relaxing, though I rode up to Seattle with coworkers, and when I rode back home, the gentleman across the aisle from me clearly wasn’t versed in reading body language or social cues, because he insisted on striking up a long conversation with me, which included his many ailments and discussion about his woeful life experiences; however, the hotel was magnificent! I realized after the fact that I have never stayed in a hotel room alone before, which blew my mind. The hotel room included several lovely thoughtful touches, and had a fireplace too (click the link above and check out the room pics–I stayed in a City View Queen Room)! I really should take some solo trips and enjoy the peace and quiet that comes with being away from home alone.
In early February, I took part in a charity bowling event and bowled on a team for a professional organization I belong to, of which I am now the Chair of the Audit Committee–a fancy title for double-checking the Treasurer’s math and making sure the books balance…it’s a pretty easy post. For Valentine’s Day, the hubs, among other gifts, had a flower arrangement delivered to me at work, and my employer mailed “Spark Happiness” packages to everyone! In late February, we also got a large snowstorm that dumped about 8″ on us in a few hours–no, this is not typical for our area. Luckily, it all melted away in a couple of days.
At the end of January, my mom and I saw Marc Cohn, Shawn Colvin, and Sarah Jarosz in concert, and I instantly fell in love with Sarah! When I made it home, I downloaded all of her albums and have been learning several of her songs to sing. So far this year, my mom and I have also seen three Broadway shows: Ain’t Too Proud (in February), My Fair Lady (in early March), and Hairspray (in late March). I’ve even managed to cram watching a few DVDs and several dinners out (date nights!) with the hubs in there!
And that covers my life’s highlights for the past few months. Here are a few photos (I’ve got receipts!) from the above synopsis:
FUN BONUS MATERIAL
I was curious what AI Lensa would do to my selfies—some of them had defects (I didn’t post those), and very few of them look like me, but it was a fun exercise, nonetheless! Which fake me is your favorite?
I heard When I Get There by P!nk for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it immediately lodged itself into my soul, so I HAD to learn it! Since it’s so new, there were only two arrangements to choose from in Smule (the app I sing on), so I picked the imperfect one in its original key that was missing background vocals (BGVs)—and created the BGVs myself! It’s not flawless, but I’m pretty happy with my first attempt at BGVs! PRO TIP: Listen with earbuds or headphones for best sound!
This was a great update. It sounds like a really good couple of months. Your Valentine’s Day sounds epic.
I’m glad the burnout is easing. It’s a hard one. I think perhaps things like burnout should come with a colour change – we turn grey – so people appreciate the distress they can’t see.
Well done on doing the background vocals yourself. That’s wicked cool.
I liked the jewellery. I like the hearts best – I’m currently in a heart phase – I’ve no idea what that’s about.

Aww, thank you! Valentine’s Day was pretty killer this year! 😍
Can you imagine if we all turned specific colors based on our mental health/moods—man, we’d probably live our lives a lot differently!
Thank you for listening! I need to dedicate more time to creating a properly layered recording—some people are massively talented and their layered recordings are a true work of art!
Hearts are great! I’m in a lazy phase—most days I just don my clear crystal studs and a simple nacklace. I’m trying to get back into switching up my accessories again.
