Hopelessly Heather

The ramblings and obsessions of a longtime Avon lady

A little bit holiday, a little bit vintage Avon’s Josephine Ponte Dress would be a classy addition to any wardrobe!

The fabric of this dress is, well, fab! It’s thicker than a jersey fabric, but wears similarly, so it’s a bit stretchy and, because of its thicker weight, pretty forgiving. The classic A line cut works on all shapes and sizes, the arms are cut a bit wider than they have been in Avon fashions lately (thank you to the Avon fashion gods!!) and the length falls just below my knee (I’m a whopping 5’1″). The red is on the bluer side – which should help you decide whether or not it will work with your skin tone. While it’s not an ideal shade of red for my yellowish skin, the black elements definitely helped!

Had I designed this dress, I would have changed only one thing: the neckline. I’m not crazy about a v-neck with this dress. Had their been a faux button down or collar detail, I think it would have worked better but, as is, it’s the one thing that looks out of place to me. A fairly formal looking dress with an informal v-neck. ::wince::

Clearly, the hubs isn’t nit picky since he only said “Wow!” when he saw me. 😉

I love me some jewelry that can double as a weapon in a pinch and the Iconic Avon Locket is just the ticket! Swing around the heavy locket at the end of a chain and you can do some serious damage!

This has a magnetized closure and the hinge is much sturdier than previous Avon lockets, which it would need due to its heft. The space inside the locket is actually fairly substantial and could hold a much larger photo than is common.

This would make a terrific gift pre-filled with photos for grandmas, moms, besties, etc.!

I’m adorned with a couple of items I picked up on clearance recently: the Destiny Cardigan and Hematite and Rose Goldtone Layered in Leaves Earrings!

I passed over purchasing the cardigan because I have so many like it, but couldn’t pass it up at the clearance price and I’m so glad I didn’t! It’s a terrific quality medium weight sweater – perfect for spring or fall! The waterfall flaps were a bit unruly to begin with because of how the cardigan came packaged, but I had them tamed by midday. The back has an adorable lace up detail in the middle of the bottom too! (Sorry in advance that the photo I took of it was not post-able!)

The earrings I’ve been sitting on for awhile waiting for summer to pass and the right outfit to come along – and this was it! I’m not much on rose gold, but with the hematite backdrop, they are really beautiful! Super lightweight too.

And that closes out the past week of selfies! Which pieces were your favorite and how would you have styled them?

Thanks! Nope – I’ll be getting my hair cut again a few days after we have dinner. I only go in every 8 weeks.
