Hopelessly Heather

The ramblings and obsessions of a longtime Avon lady

Check out this beautiful Julia Teardrop Necklace and Earring Set! This set is traditional and lovely. Nothing more needs to be said!

On Tuesday I busted out my 1929 limited edition Ferragamo reproduction shoes and paired them with the vintage appearance of Avon’s Ivory Pearly Perfection 3 Piece Set (also available in chocolate) to attend my Avon district’s holiday party!

This set is classic in appearance, but chunkier than I had anticipated. When I first put on the necklace, I felt like a real life Wilma Flintstone. (To you youngsters out there, The Flintstones was a popular 70s cartoon family – Wilma wore a very chunky rock-like choker that acted as the neckline of her skimpy prehistoric dress. GIS it.) Anyway, I got over it and ended up really loving the drop earrings and especially appreciating the oblong silver charm on the necklace and bracelet that breaks up the string of pearls. For the record, I only wore the bracelet for the photos – I type for a living and bracelets tend to annoy me, so I don’t wear them as a rule, but I wanted to show it with the set, so…PICTURES! 😀

On Wednesday I dressed in Avon’s Eliana Split Sleeve Sweater and added Silvertone Elongated Hoop Earrings – pink and black is a delicious color combo!

This sweater may have been questionable to have worn to work at a law office, but I’m the only person left working to close it down, so I chucked the rules and enjoyed every minute of it!

I don’t know why I’m generally anti-pink (probably a longstanding aversion from my tomboy childhood), but I have always loved the power combo of pink and black – feminine and tough. This baby pink is light enough that it would look good on anyone – it’s darn near a blush color.

The sweater itself is boxy, which doesn’t flatter curvy girls. :::wah, wah::: The sleeve slits are significant! If you have guns to show off, this sweater is for you! If your arms are dreadful like mine, you may want to pass. Also, the arms are l-o-n-g. I honestly don’t know who they made this for dimension-wise, but I ended up entirely folding both cuffs up (about 3″) and they were still long on me. (For those not in the know, I’m a powerfully short 5’1″.) Had I tried this on in a store before purchasing it, I’d have put it back on the rack.

The earrings are heftier than I thought they’d be. Not too heavy, but thick. I wanted a vague rocker vibe for this look and the earrings definitely help to pull that off.

I actually really like the sweater on you, but recognize that’s possibly because of photo angling and that its wearability is something entirely different. The cut-out sleeves and the color are really flattering on you.

Thanks! The color is great, but the sleeve cut outs are too dramatic and the sweater is too boxy overall on me. I took a bunch of photos before I got one that looked okay.

      Thanks!

I have no control how my posts and photos render on the reader – that’s all in the coding on their end. Are yours not posting the same way on the reader?

      1. Most of the time I don’t even see my own posts on the reader I have no idea why but usually when I see them it puts one pic on there.

Hmm. Do all of your posts have more than one pic in them? You need to do another blog post – your last one was forever ago and I can’t scroll back that far in my reader to check out how your images render.
