The ramblings and obsessions of a longtime Avon lady

A couple of weeks ago, I attended my local Avon meeting.  Attending local meetings accomplish many things, including socializing and supporting my local sister reps, being able to see some of the new products coming our way, and (my favorite) learning tips and tricks that we’ve each picked up along the way.  During this particular meeting, I was discussing an issue I had with a new bath oil product: the pour hole was huge and I felt like I was consistently wasting product in the shower because of it.

A sister rep piped up that she commonly pokes holes in the safety seals of her products to reduce the flow of liquids pouring through the pour hole.  ::mind blown::  It’s an elegantly simple solution to a long-time problem I’d been having!

In return, we discussed another rep’s solution to another issue I’d had over a year ago that I discussed in this post.  The instructions of the Anew Hydra Fusion In-Shower Mask says to pat a small amount of the liquid onto your face, but it’s possible they don’t understand how liquid reacts in gravity.  I routinely wasted product following their instructions until another rep suggested purchasing an empty spray bottle and pouring the product into it – GENIUS! It now only takes a few seconds to apply and I no longer waste product!

  1. Not a beauty suggestion, but a survival technique.

I wrap duct tape around my cigarette lighters and pens, so when I’m on the go and I need a piece of tape, I always have a little on hand. It’s helped out more than once.

Companies WANT you to waste product so that you buy more of it.

Obviously, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be proactive against that.
