Hopelessly Heather

The ramblings and obsessions of a longtime Avon lady

I missed posting last week because there was only one selfie taken.  Avon has been sparse in their new jewelry/clothing offerings, and I suck at regularly trying new makeup or skin care products, instead preferring to stick with my tried and true solutions.  But fear not my devoted readers, I received a ton of new jewelry pieces this past week for the next campaign that kicks off next week, so I will hopefully be back on track with my one per week posts!

Two Mondays ago, I showed off Avon’s Genuine Rose Quartz Layered Necklace and Earrings a day early, because they were so gorgeous! PLUS portions of sales from the line are donated to support the fight on breast cancer!

Rose quartz is such a beautiful light pink that it’s not in-your-face girly, but still oozes femininity.  Form it into a vague and small-ish heart shape, slap some gold around it, and you’ve got a gorgeous and delicate set that still pays homage to its natural stone state.  As a result, the pieces were smaller than I had anticipated, but that actually made me happy, as I had worried about the weight of the earrings should they have been medium or large.  The layers of the necklace featured freewheeling pendants, so they mostly hung properly throughout the day, though the top layer was incredibly lightweight and kept sticking to my oily skin–which is purely a “me” problem and not a reason I’d actively dissuade someone from purchasing the pieces because of.  How can you not love beautiful pieces that also benefit the fight on breast cancer?!

The kitties weren’t feelin’ the love last Saturday (vet checkups), but I was–in Avon’s Heart Look of Shell Motif Necklace!

The pendant was larger than I had thought it would be, which was awesome!  The mother of pearl piece was beautifully surrounded with a goldtoned CZ-encrusted heart that I found surprisingly sparkly!    I wore the necklace at its longest length because of the neckline I chose to wear it with, but it cinches up a lot shorter, though it doesn’t make it into choker-length territory.  I’m really digging the shorter necklaces lately, after having gone through a lengthy phase of long necklaces.  I still love both, but I’m happy to see some of the shorter lengths make a return.  It’s fun to change it up!

My ears were literally dripping pearls today in Avon’s Pearly Statement Earrings!

The good:  These are definitely attention-whore worthy.  They are also really interesting and different in their design execution.  The bad:  They are heavy and required my floppy earlobes to use magic earring backers to keep them from smacking me in my eyeballs.  The ugly:  These things are ginormous!  Because they are so large, they are costume-ish, and look pretty ridiculous on when you have a small head like me.  Should these have been much smaller in size, my review would have been gushing with love–I really want to like them, but the cons unfortunately outweigh the pros.  Another pair to the nope pile.

Those are all of the past two weeks’ selfies! What was your favorite and how would you have worn it?!

  1. I like all of these, but really love the earrings you think are too overwhelmingly heavy and large, I love big pieces like that, lol. It’s just me.

Interesting as in “I need a pair in my life” or interesting as in “How much for an hour of your time?”
