Every so often I go through my large supply of Avon samples and cull out those that have been discontinued. It is not at all uncommon for there to be hundreds of samples of lipsticks, perfumes, creams, makeup and skin care products. The first time I did it, I offered up the outdated samples to friends and family, which was a hit; however, from then on I have opted to donate them to shelters (homeless, women’s, etc.) so that those less fortunate may be able to have a little bit of a bright spot in an otherwise difficult time. Simple, but potentially powerful.
When I receive samples of products that I’m not interested in testing out myself, I throw them in a basket under the sink in my guest bathroom where I also keep a variety of travel sized products on hand so that my guests can pick through them and try new things or find an old favorite to take home!
What do you do with your outdated and/or unused samples?
Heather, it’s so nice that you donate your samples to the homeless. I know women who are living in shelters, because of domestic violence, must appreciate it. I’m sure getting free beauty products to use must do a lot to uplift their self-esteem. Really nice that you do that. Reading that moved me. I like donating my used clothes to domestic violence shelters – another parallel. 🙂

To me it just makes the most logical sense – I’m not at all surprised we’re on the same page with this!
