Hopelessly Heather

The ramblings and obsessions of a longtime Avon lady

Last Saturday was date night with the hubs, so I stepped out in style in Avon’s Betty Dress and the Dazzling Heart Drop Earrings (unfortunately, already sold out) – lipstick shade is Perfect Red!  I think this dress would look absolutely fab with pops of yellow, electric blue, hot pink, purple or orange too!  Sadly, I only have red shoes that count as “colorful”…maybe that will change in the future.

The dress is super comfy and flattering, though make sure to treat it for static electricity before you step out in public! I learned that lesson the hard way…..CLINGY! Ain’t nobody want to see that!

The earrings are super sweet – and already sold out. 😦 I did wear earring lifters with them – I’m not sure why all of Avon’s recent stud earrings are rounded on the front of the ear part, but they cause all of them to tip forward and droop. Earring lifters to the rescue! Best Christmas gift evar!

On Sunday, the hubs and I headed out to my bestie’s karaoke birthday party, so I brought the fun with Avon’s Heart Hoop Earrings and my Ferragamo headband!

Alicia was right, these earrings are super cute! They are fun and playful while still managing to not be childish! Another pair in the win column!

And the interviews keep on coming, so I plopped on Avon’s Modern Pearly Necklace and Drop Earrings (sold separately) to add some interest to my basic interview “uniform” consisting of slacks, camisole, blazer and a great pair of heels.

What I really like about the necklace is that the pearl shape isn’t perfect – and there’s a little cubic zirconia gem in the center of it! It definitely adds a little something to tried and true design!

The only thing I’d point out about the earrings is that the pearls drop at an angle rather than straight down – almost like Pippi Longstocking got a hold of them. While I did wear them as intended the first time around, I think I’ll probably bend them to be straighter for future wearings – only because they look like a mistake.

My kid and her hubs got me and my son gift certificates to join them in doing an escape room on Friday and I was pretty anxious about the scenario they chose: kidnapped by a serial killer, you are handcuffed in a dark room and have 60 minutes to escape. WTF? It’s bad enough being pressured to have to think yourself out of a timed situation, but adding fear on top of it? Gah! I won’t even do haunted houses!

Of course, I had to look good just in case it was my last day on Earth and I didn’t survive getting kidnapped by a serial killer, so I donned Avon’s Opalesque Layered Necklace and Shaky Earrings (sold separately)!

Both pieces are lookers! The large opal pendant is absolutely beautiful!!

Just the usual gripe about the layered necklace: the layers don’t stay hanging “properly” and tend to tangle.

The earrings are a bit larger than I expected, but not at all heavy. They tinkle a bit, but the charms are plastic, so they aren’t overly noisy.

And, for those of you wondering, we escaped with 3.5 minutes to spare!

Those are all of the past week’s selfies! Which pieces were your favorite and how would you have styled them?

  1. Heather!! You need to stop showing me all this jewelry, I’m going to go broke! It’s been years since I’ve bough any Avon jewelry (I’m a jewelry addict) but now I’ve fallen off the Avon rehab wagon. Lol. That outfit looks beautiful on you, you go girl.

  2. Oh I forgot to mention, why, why, why would you do an escape room for fun? I mean for me my escape room is like, my entire life and all the crap that happens to me literally! Lol

Well, I love puzzles and solving them, but I didn’t actually choose this one – it was a gift from my adult daughter. She only chose that particular scenario because it was the most difficult to escape from. Being locked in a room doesn’t freak me out at all, but you add serial killers, darkness and handcuffs to the mix and I am a hot mess of nerves.

  3. I like how you added some personality to the pieces. Very clever.

Maybe you could work for J. Peterman.

I totally had to Google search J. Peterman – I don’t think I could work for them, but they have some gorgeous dresses! Thanks for turning me toward more shiny things!

      1. J. Peterman is a character from Seinfeld. He’s a fashion outfitter. All of his clothes have some story behind them.

I wasn’t trying to make fun of you. It’s just what I thought of when I read your story.

I didn’t think you were making fun of me at all – I’m grateful! I wasn’t a big Seinfeld fan, so it doesn’t suprise me that I’m unfamiliar.

      1. Many, many people. Fortunately, I am not one of hem. I LOVE my bling. My husband teases me, because I work in pools all day long, so he says I don;t any more jewelry. I say a girl never has enough. 🙂

We’re cut from the same cloth! I have many SIMILAR pieces, but they are all distinctly different and I’m picky about which pieces I wear and when.

          1. Yep. And I love my pieces to match as much as possible too. Although I do certainly have my favorites.

              1. I have certainly done some fun mixing and matching. Nothing wrong with that. It really depends on my mood and what “statement” I want to make at the time. Lately, I have really gotten into layering.
