Hopelessly Heather

The ramblings and obsessions of a longtime Avon lady

Monday I was feeling a little bit holiday, and a little bit retro in Avon’s Flat Velvet Lipstick in Rose Pink and their very vintage-y Iconic Bow Necklace and Earring Set!

This retro jewelry set is classic in design, so you get that vintage look, but it’s not as chunky as the original designs were, which make this set appear more delicate and intricate. While I wouldn’t choose this particular design (I think it’s too sophisticated) for a very young girl, the size of the necklace pendant and length of the chain is appropriate. Avon always wows with their holiday jewelry and this did not fall short!

On the flip side, this lipstick formula didn’t wow me at all. The shade was fine, though nothing special, which is why I chose it–I knew the shade would work fine and I’d be able to judge the product for itself. That’s where it’s lacking. The shape of the lipstick is weird, and I had issues with getting it applied, particularly filling in my bottom lip because it didn’t go on smoothly–it’s very dry. After using lots of other Avon lipstick formulations, I’ve come to expect moisturizing lip products–and this was the complete opposite. While you can augment that by applying other products on top or below–why? ::sigh::

Taking the brightness of the day and making it even brighter in Avon x The Face Shop’s Ink Tattoo Lip Tint in Burgundy Punch!

I previously posted my full review of the Ink Tattoo Lip Tint and my original thoughts/opinions remain, so I’ll focus solely on the shade this go-round. This shade is more burgundy in the tube and when it’s wet, but dried a more fruit punch shade. I still liked it, but it’s not what I was expecting.

Bringing the sparkle to this dark Halloween night in Avon’s 3 Piece Sparkling Gift Set in Silvertone!

Bar necklaces are my nemeses, but I keep on trying! This particular one hung just slightly off kilter all day long–I couldn’t even manage to get it to hang straight for my pictures. ::eye roll AND heavy sigh:: That said, this is a decent set, though nothing particularly special about it.

Those are all of the past week’s selfies! What was your favorite and how would you have worn it?!

  1. I like the shade of burgundy on you, even if it didn’t turn out like you thought. I’ve been wearing my Vintage Avon jewelry, actually thought about blogging about it. I have sooooo many pieces, lol. 💎

I had no idea what “bar necklaces” were until I saw the picture. Too funny that it wouldn’t stay the way you wanted it to.

They are pretty popular right now, so I’m fighting them A LOT!
