The ramblings and obsessions of a longtime Avon lady

For every list of fashion/beauty don’ts, there is at least one cutting edge fashionista who will then take that list and turn it into her own fashion/beauty TO DO list. These are the ladies (and gents) that refuse to toe the line and become the trendsetters. Even when they fail they win. Why? Because we’re watching. We’re interested to see what they will do next. They don’t fear presenting a public look that fails. They are unaffected, brave trailblazers.

A long while back, I was asked by one of my Avon customers how to prevent lipstick from feathering/bleeding. There are tons of tricks out there. The most common reason lipstick feathers/bleeds is because your lips are too dry.

The usual steps to take are…

Did you know that there is a PROPER way to apply hand lotion? I learned this trick in 1996 at an Avon meeting – one of my first as an Avon rep.  It’s stuck with me since and I’ve shared it hundreds of times over, much to the delight of many! For those of you who are unfamiliar with the technique, I demonstrated it in the following video…

First things first, I never paint my fingernails.  I am rough on my hands and my  fingernails are just plain woeful.  There is absolutely no need to draw any kind of attention to my jacked up fingernails.

On the flip side, I love having painted toenails; however, my feet are pretty disgusting.  I power walk and run, so my feet are constantly sporting blisters in various states of healing and the calluses should be named.  To deal with my feet, I have found several things that can make them appear party ready…at least until the party is over!

One of the biggest complaints that I hear from my Avon customers is that it’s difficult to find a lipstick shade that works for them.  They are always skeptical when I tell them I have a trick that will make any lipstick shade work for them, but the ones who actually test out my tip are always amazed and can’t stop gushing about it!
