I attended my daughter’s 28th birthday brunch last Saturday in Avon’s Spring Shimmer Earrings!
While these look just fine from a distance, I am not the world’s biggest fan of the heavily faceted plastic beads/stones that are used in jewelry settings–they look cheap and obviously fake. These are heavily faceted. ::sigh:: Luckily, they don’t cover a lot of surface area, so you really do have to get super close to see them in detail. Thus, folks seeing them on me at a usual distance won’t know the difference and they won’t appear so cheap.
These pieces are really pretty–and my favorite color! I love how the hoop earrings are more of a monochromatic rainbow of blues as opposed to the ombre bleed of blues in the necklace’s pendant. It makes them similar enough to look like they belong to the same collection (which they do), but not so matchy-matchy to make the pieces boring. While I typically prefer my blue-stoned jewelry to be set in silvertone, I actually really like how the blues pop in the goldtone setting here! Surprisingly, the hoop earrings were a bit larger in diameter than the necklace’s pendant, but not so much that they weren’t compatibly to wear together for each to receive equal attention.
It’s difficult to capture the opalescent look to these, but they are super interesting! They aren’t quite as milky as opals, but they do have that feel to them, while appearing mostly pink in hue. The pieces are small, but pack a big punch–I received several compliments on them throughout the day, which tells you something. Often, people notice the bigger statement pieces, unless there’s something really special about a smaller piece–these pieces have that little extra somethin-somethin’! Add to that fact that these are set in sterling silver–so much wow! These would certainly suit a young preteen/teen as well.
Those are all of the past week’s selfies! What was your favorite and how would you have worn it?!
