One thing about being around for 134 years… you become iconic.  There is always something nostalgic and vintage with Avon.  Heather from Hopelessly Heather and I love a good classic vintage look so with the Iconic Avon collection we were inspired.

“I always look forward Avon’s Iconic offerings—their vintage vibe is totally my jam!  This time around, they released a few items that make a big splash!

I used the Pearly Ribbon Brooch to help create a “soft” waistline on my dress by gathering some of the excess material to nip in one side.  Brooches are the quintessential retro accessory, but they are also the most flexible—you can wear them on hats, lapels, scarves, handbags, in your hair…the…

  1. What a great idea to use the brooch on your dress like that!! I have so many, some I inherited from my mom, a former Avon lady. You look stunning in the mauve lipstick 😉.

  2. Avon is over 100 years old? That’s pretty impressive. Whenever I think of companies founded so long ago I think of how lame it would be for me to have a company est. 2022. But then, I realize that you have to start somewhere. Just with my blog – I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for YEARS!

The childhood photos are a great touch. It would be even better if you wrote a short description of who is who.

As for the brooches – I always found those weird – just a sign of old age but your ‘out of the box’ use of it looks good!

Yup! Everyone’s story has a Day 1–yours can start today!

I think Alicia’s post originally did have captions, but with the site changing over to the new system last year, some of the original formatting was lost. 😦

In addition to their common usages, I’ve used brooches in my hair, on scarves, to cinch up extra material on the back of cardigans/shirts and on the sides of dresses, and as purse decorations. I absolutely love them, and think they are an underused accessory!
