Hopelessly Heather

The ramblings and obsessions of a longtime Avon lady

I picked up fresh pasta in downtown Philly for dinner last Saturday night and wore Avon’s Side Tie Ruched Top in Green, Layered Chain Necklace, and the small gold ball studs from Pearly Earring Variety Pack!

This necklace is heavy!  On top of that, I kept having issues with the longest layer’s chain “kinking”.  I took it off and straightened the chain a few times before finally giving up–maybe I got a defective one.  Regardless, I still really liked the look of this one, even if it is a little bit like Mr. T’s starter pack (as the hubs likes to say).  The earrings are exactly like the first pair my ears were pierced with: tiny gold ball studs.  Traditional and works with anything–you can’t go wrong.  The variety pack is crammed with FIFTEEN pairs of earrings: five goldtone, five silvertone, and five rose goldtone–all with traditional ball studs and pearl ball studs in varying sizes–a tremendous deal!

The top comes in three colors/patterns aside from the army green I picked, which happens to be a great color on me and one of my favorite neutrals.  The top is a straightforward 3/4 length sleeved top with stretch in it, but the side tie makes it interesting.  You can choose how cinched up you want it to be, and you can also choose how you’d like to tie the ends.  Even cinched up, the top covered the mama pooch, so this one was a win for me!

I headed out to dinner with the hubs’ BFF and his fam in Avon’s Grey Tunic Sweater Dress and Rose and Jet Pave Disc Necklace and Earring Set!

Another black and rose gold combo to keep things fresh!  The necklace is one of those slider necklaces, which is my new favorite thing, so you can choose the length you want it to be–from long to choker length–and the pave disc is small enough in diameter that it won’t look ridiculous as a choker.  The two ends of the chain trails down your back, which would be a great look with a backless or low back top–adornment coming and going!  The earrings are lightweight and match the necklace–nothing too special.

The sweater dress is super warm and cozy!  While I found it to be a bit boxy, I also had chosen to size up this entire line to mediums for comfort–and I’m actually a small.  The sweater is thick, but still pliable, so you still have natural movement in it instead of feeling stiff.  It’s not overly soft, but it isn’t scratchy either–overall a good buy, though I’d probably opt to wear some sort of belt to create a bit of definition in the future–sadly, I didn’t bring one with me to the east coast so I felt a little like Spongebob.

I trekked into NYC with the fam to grab grub, see a show and check out some holiday decor in Avon’s Green Marled Cowl Neck Top, Goldtone Sliding Lariat Necklace, and the blue studs from the Modern Stud Earring Trio!

I opted to wear the lariat so it looked like it was spilling out of the cowl neck, which I ended up loving!  My only gripe was that the chain kept snagging on the top, but it’s wholly possible that wouldn’t happen at all with a top made out of a smooth material.  I love that you can choose how long you want the lariat portion of the necklace to be–again, you could cinch it up and spin it around so that the lariat cascaded down a bare back, leaving a simple gold chain choker look from the front.  The possibilities are endless!  The earrings are a small pop of color to add interest to an otherwise relatively monochromatic look while still allowing the necklace to take center stage.  Nothing particularly memorable.

The top is toasty and easy to wear, but is a bit stiff and rough–though I’m hoping it softens and becomes more pliable after a few washes.  The army green is extremely dark–so much that it appears more of a dark grey unless you look at it closely in brighter light.  Aside from the material and color, it’s a fairly straightforward cowl-necked top.

I chilled out on Christmas Eve with family in Avon’s Chunky Link Earrings!

These earrings were fairly hefty–you can see my lobes drooping under their weight in the first photo.  Regardless, I still really liked the look of them.  They are simple in design, but a great overall size to still fill up visual space without it being in your face like a many statement earrings.  I’d probably add these to my “favorites” jewelry box if they were a tad bit lighter…

I celebrated Christmas with the fam in Avon’s Grey Cowl Neck Hi-Lo Top and the silvertone CZ studs from the Pearly Earring Variety Pack!

Standard earrings, but ones everyone should own!  Small, simple, with a touch of pizzazz…just the way I like ’em.

The cut of the top was very flattering, and the button detail is charming!  While the color is a bore, it’s a neutral, so I can’t complain much…though I’d have loved this one to be in a jewel tone.  The neck was a bit of a bother, as I struggled to get it draped right (without it showing the edge), but I fought it into submission.  I think the sleeves are technically 3/4 length, but I’m a shorty and I ordered up a size, so they hit pretty close to my wrists.  I can already tell that this one will be in heavy rotation on my weekends through the winter and early spring!

I flew back home on Thursday in comfort with the medium-sized silver pearl studs in Avon’s Pearly Earring Variety Pack!

These are the second largest pearl studs in the set and I think they are just perfect to add a little oomph to an otherwise meh outfit.  My outfit looked like I just left the gym from a workout and slapped some pearls on–it’s unexpected and fun!

Those are all of the past week’s selfies! What was your favorite and how would you have worn it?!
