As much as I love the trend, I cannot pull off the off-shoulder look–my shoulders are very narrow and wimpy looking, so wearing anything off of them tends to shine a bright spotlight on that fact…and they are not something I’m interested in people noticing. Luckily, this top has elastic that still looks good when not worn off the shoulder–except that I did notice a tiny gap on the top of my shoulder where the fabric tented/gapped (see second pic for better close ups) instead of laying flat. The fabric is a medium weight, so it’s not a top I’d wear in the deadliest heat of summer, but totally appropriate for cooler summer nights and days.
Regardless, the powder blue is stunning and would work on every skin tone, and the scoop bottom of the top helps hide the mama belly! But, by far, the best thing about this top is the SLEEVES! I probably would have opted to purchase this top just because of the sleeves! They are so beautiful! I only wish they hadn’t included the elastic bits around the middle of the upper arms. I mean, I get why they did it, but it’s not my favorite, and I think it takes away from the thing of beauty these sleeves truly are by themselves.
The bib necklace is loads of fun–and a little on the heavy side! I’d have preferred to cinch it up at collar length, but the chain didn’t allow for that, so I had to let out the chain as long as it would go to keep it from hiding under my blouse all day. However, just because I chose to wear it with a challenging top doesn’t mean I don’t love it! I’ll just choose better next time! The earrings are exactly what you’d expect based on their name–I opened the box and just nodded my head. No surprises one way or the other there. Just a classic style with a lot of shine.
