Hopelessly Heather

The ramblings and obsessions of a longtime Avon lady

Ooh, la la—officially Paris bound in Avon’s Side Button Detail Top, Whimsical Heart Pendant Necklace (no longer available), and Rosegoldtone How Charming Earring Pack (no longer available)!! This is the outfit I opted for to kick off our Paris vacay, and it was perfect for so much traveling.

This top is a fun, vibrant pink that provides a great pop of color! The fabric is a forgiving, stretchy medium-weight that flows over bumps and bulges without clinging, the cut is super flattering, and the buttons add extra visible interest. Two thumbs up!

Power gem, ACTIVATE!! Featuring Avon’s Cutout Handkerchief Hem Top (sold out), Blue Power Gem Pendant Necklace (sold out), and Stainless Steel Everyday Set of 2 Earrings!

A bit of a mixed bag on the top. The cut and color is very flattering–I particularly love the placement of the straps. The material is thick, which isn’t a negative, but I’d have preferred it to be a little thinner and cooler to wear. I liked the idea of one of the straps having a ring in it, but in reality, once I put it on, the asymmetry bugged me and it looked like a mistake in the design. I’d definitely recommend it, but it doesn’t rise to the level of being a favorite.

It’s so easy being green…in Avon’s (May) Birthstone Earring Pack (no longer available)! Simple little danglies that add just enough extra-ness to a casual ensemble. Lightweight and easy to maneuver through mask ear loops, these couldn’t be more perfect for my (current) favorite jewelry aesthetic.

During the past couple of years, I’ve found it increasingly difficult for me to summon up the energy to wear and show off new fashion and jewelry pieces–though, it’s not because of a lack of desire. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we have been under lockdowns, mask mandates, remote work mandates, social distancing, and a whole host of other things that eviscerated my very full pre-COVID “fashionista” existence. I now rarely leave my house and, when I do, I’m required to wear a mask for the majority, if not the entire, time I’m around other people, while also maintaining social distancing. The shift to remote work where video meetings are the norm has caused me to focus more on makeup looks, rather than adornments, which can be distracting when people only see you in a tiny box from the shoulders up, and (in person) are annoying to untangle from mask loops. Similarly, I’ve found myself gravitating towards simple and comfortable fashion pieces, most of which I have owned for some time. As such, since my jewelry and fashion collection has grown at the same rate this past year as in previous years, I’ve been terrible about cracking open the packaging and modeling the pieces. By the time I finally do muster up the energy to wear new things, it’s not unusual to learn that they have already come and gone in the brochure. Regardless, I am not going to let that stop me from posting photos and reviews of whatever new pieces I do find the inspiration to don. This intro is an explanation as to why you will see many items with “no longer available” after them, rather than linked to my eStore, but also to explain why my selfies have been “missing in action” a lot more the past couple of years. Here’s to hoping that 2022 will bring about some improvements!

Lace it up in Avon’s Lace-Up Detail Top and Natural Wonder Agate Earring Pack! The top is cut in a snugger fit than I usually gravitate to, but the variegated coloring and the medium-weight of the material made it lay flatteringly, causing my problem areas to disappear. The color is perfect for autumn, as is the weight–not too heavy for the warmer days, and not too light for the cooler evenings, plus you can easily layer it. In addition, the super cute lacing on the shoulders adds a fun focal point!
